This placement method is convenient for maximum cleaning convenience: spilled liquid or small debris like crumbs can be easily brushed off the kitchen table into the sink, while dirt will not accumulate in the gap between the sink and the countertop (unlike back-to-back installation, see the relevant paragraph). At the same time, the installation of such sinks is quite complicated in itself.
