Cognac glasses

— among glasses for cognac (glasses for this drink are not used), two main varieties can be distinguished. The first is the classic, most popular and well-known glass, the so-called "snifter": a rounded, "pot-bellied" bowl made of thin glass on a short leg. Such a glass should be held with a hand under the bowl, warming the drink with the warmth of the palm — it is believed that this way of drinking best reveals the taste and aroma of cognac. However, there is another type of cognac glasses — the so-called "tulips" on a thin high stem; they resemble wine glasses, but have a smaller volume and are more elongated in height. The choice between these options is largely a matter of taste: some believe that "tulips" are better suited for inexpensive, young cognacs, while others recommend, on the contrary, using them for drinks of the XO category and above.
