Fly reels
Fly fishing
— fly fishing reels have an extremely simple design: they do not have any transmission mechanism, and the handle is fixed directly on the drum. This makes it difficult to use additional devices such as a friction brake, and also requires certain skills when casting: the inertia of the drum is quite large, and even with a slight inaccuracy, a “beard” can occur. At the same time, fly fishing models have a number of advantages: they are very “high-torque” and sensitive, while being reliable, easy to maintain and inexpensive. Reels of this type differ from similar inertial products (see the relevant paragraph) in their lower weight, less suitability for working with thick fishing line / cord, and also in their purpose: in accordance with the name, they are intended mainly for fly fishing (although they can also be used for simpler targets — for example, with float gear).fly fishing | clear | Save List |
