It's important to note that in affordable RC cars, this is usually a styling nod to Formula 1/Indy rather than a hint at professional competitions: the manufacturer creates a recognizable silhouette and "racing" ambiance so that the model looks impressive on the shelf and in pictures. Compared to bodied "touring" cars, a Formula car is easily recognizable by its open wheels and flatter profile, and unlike rally or off-road models, it doesn't have massive bumpers and a tall body — everything looks more "track-focused" and aerodynamic. This category also includes remote-controlled karts because they are also low, open, and "Formula-like" in silhouette. This appearance is often chosen as a gift for a motorsport fan, for a collection, for beautiful photos/videos, and simply for driving in the yard on a flat surface when one seeks the feel of a "little Formula" rather than a replica of a regular passenger car.
