Lead-acid
— in a broad sense, the vast majority of modern car batteries are lead-acid batteries, as their design is based on a combination of electrodes made from lead compounds and an electrolyte, which is diluted sulfuric acid. Specifically, in this case, it refers to the classic type of batteries that use a regular liquid electrolyte. Their widespread use is due to the simplicity of their design and low cost combined with good capacity and starting current performance (see below), as well as better resistance to low temperatures compared to other types of batteries.
