— separately sold paid subscriptions to online services related to video game consoles – such as Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

A certain set of basic functions (player communication, online store, ratings, etc.) are usually available in such services for free; and paid subscriptions allow users to get various additional features. Such functions may include, but are not limited to, early access to games, participation in beta testing, receiving games for free or at a significant discount, use of third-party services (for example, social media), and others. Separately, it is worth noting that multiplayer games in some services are also available only with a paid subscription (these are, for example, the terms of use of Xbox Live).

The subscriptions themselves are usually sold either in the form of an electronic access code (without physical media) or in the form of a card on which access data is printed.
