— in fact, such designs are a hybrid of a classic pedestal and a floor mount: they are installed on the floor, have shelves (usually several), but the TV is not placed on a shelf, as in the case of a conventional pedestal, but on a special mount. This frees up space on the shelves, and also provides additional reliability — it is almost impossible to accidentally drop such a TV by hitting it.
