Devices with a full-fledged OS on board are most often media players (see "Purpose"); and even by the standards of this class, they are distinguished by extensive functionality, which can be further expanded by installing additional applications. Specifically, iOS is Apple's proprietary OS, it is not used by other manufacturers. Players running this "OSes" mainly belong to the iPod touch family.

Compared to another popular operating system — Android — iOS has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, access to the file system and many subtle settings in it are not available, and you have to listen to music and watch videos exclusively through the proprietary iTunes service, which is not convenient for everyone. On the other hand, this OS is as simple and safe as possible for the user; the set of software for it is not as extensive as for Android, however, all applications undergo strict quality control.
