— this type of work refers to welding using non-consumable electrodes. TIG electrodes are made from a heat-resistant material whose melting point is higher than the arc temperature (most often tungsten or graphite). Thus, the electrode only ensures the burning of the arc and does not participate in the formation of the seam — only the materials of the parts to be joined are fused together. In some cases, for greater reliability, additives are used — pieces of the same materials placed at the junction and fused into the seam. The main advantages of TIG are the high quality and accuracy of the connection, as well as the most complete degree of control over the process. On the other hand, this type of welding does not have a high speed and is rather complicated in itself, which requires the appropriate qualification of the operator.
