Audio systems with optical output

Optical output

— an output for transmitting a signal to external devices (primarily acoustic systems) via an optical fibre cable of the S/P-DIF standard. The optical connection is notable for its extremely high resistance to interference — such a signal is not affected by electromagnetic "pickup", unlike the electrical version of S / P-DIF (the so-called coaxial interface); and the bandwidth is enough even to work with multi-channel audio. However, the cables used for this connection are quite fragile and require some care in handling.
