Smooth start

— the soft start function avoids the sudden jerk of the motor in the electric tool (see "Type") at the moment of starting, and also smoothes out the surge in power consumption that occurs at this moment. This makes starting safer, reduces the risk of losing the tool and reduces the load on the electrical network (the latter is especially important in older houses with poor wiring).
