Accordion doors

— the design of such doors is made from narrow sections that fold into a "package" when opened and slide to the side along a guide. They are chosen when a regular swing door obstructs the passage or "eats up" valuable space, which is why accordion doors are often found in pantries, closets, bathrooms, and small kitchens. Compared to sliding doors, they usually take up less depth on the wall and can be installed where there isn't enough room for a full "slide" of the panel. However, in terms of sound insulation and the feeling of solidity, they often fall short of classic panels and many sliding systems. Example: to close a niche under a wardrobe or separate a laundry area, an accordion door provides access to almost the entire width of the opening without obstructing nearby furniture.
