LPT is an outdated interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer. It was used mainly for printers, scanners and external drives, but technically it can also be used with other devices — from modems and joysticks to highly specialized equipment and a direct connection between two computers. New peripherals for LPT are practically not produced, however, there are quite a few old devices that work; thus, PCI controllers with similar ports continue to be produced.
