U-lock

— an analogue of a conventional padlock: a U-shaped shackle, fixed at both ends of the lock. U-locks are highly reliable, they are considered the most resistant to sawing, not to mention biting. On the other hand, such locks are not very practical: the relatively small size of the shackle does not give such convenience as chain and especially cable models. As a result, you can hook the U-shaped lock only for a small thickness (to which you also need to pull the bike close); and the simultaneous fixation of the wheel and frame can be very difficult, if not impossible. Also, U-locks are quite bulky and inconvenient to transport.
