Collars
Collars
— traditional collars — straps, cords, chains, etc. from different materials, worn around the neck of pets. Such products have several main functions at once: controlling (you can hold an animal by the collar, a leash or leash is often attached to it), decorative (there are even special collars for exhibitions), as well as the role of a “passport business card”: the presence of such an accessory indicates the fact that the animal is not a stray, in addition, the contact details of the owner can be placed on the collar in case the dog gets lost. In addition, there are more specific functions; for more details about them, as well as about the types of collars in general, see "Types of collars".If we compare such products with harnesses (ordinary walking, not specialized), then collars are more compact and cheaper, besides, they give a greater degree of control when used with a leash: it is easier to keep an untrained dog from moving in an unnecessary direction, since the collar immediately squeezes the throat. In addition, fastening a neck strap or inserting a pet's head into it is usually easier than hardware the animal into a harness. On the other hand, collars (especially those that are incorrectly fitted/adjusted) can restrict breathing and even lead to neck injuries during strong jerks; besides, it is easier for a dog in such a “harness” to reach the leash with his teeth if he is inclined to gnaw it.
