HDWE140UZSVA

High-performance 3.5″ form factor internal hard drive from the 2015 Toshiba X300 line of top consumer HDDs. This family includes seven models from 4 GB to 16 TB, which are optimized for solving resource-intensive tasks and comfortable gaming. It is positioned as a product of the middle price category, designed for use in performant multi-purpose and gaming systems. Perfect for workstations dealing with digital content creation/editing.

It will be of interest to fans of computer games and enthusiasts who prefer to assemble a PC on their own. The Toshiba X300 HDWE140EZSTA hard drive can be used as a system drive, used as part of a RAID 0/1 array, or paired with a faster SSD drive. A capacity of 4 TB is enough to install games, store impressive volumes of high- and ultra-high-definition media content, and store work project files. The disk has a HDA filled with helium and is equipped with a high-performance controller working in conjunction with a large buffer (128 MB). Innovative Stable Platter Technology minimizes drive vibration through improved motor shaft stabilization. This improves head positioning accuracy and maximizes read and write performance.

How to Choose a Hard DriveUnderstanding how to choose the right HDD for gaming, video recording, server, and other tasks
Model overview based on user reviews
The Toshiba X300 X300 hard drive is praised for its high-speed performance, making it ideal for handling large files efficiently. Users appreciate its competitive pricing and note that it offers double the cache compared to competitors, enhancing its value for file storage. However, it is not suitable for RAID configurations, which some find disappointing. The drive operates at a consistent temperature even under heat, ensuring reliability. While it is noisy at times, this is balanced by its speed, and it does not overheat. Users also mention occasional brief pauses during operation, but these do not affect gaming performance. Overall, it is considered a top choice for personal file archiving but not recommended for industrial systems or RAID setups.
Pros

Cons

This is your choice if you are not looking for perfect silence in a computer room.

I have been using this hard drive for over 2 months, and here's what I want to say. Firstly, it's really noisy, there are hard drives that are 3 times quieter, but they lag behind it in speed by 2 times, so you have to sacrifice either speed or silence. In the end, it doesn't make noise constantly, but periodically, I'd say about 50% of the time, taking breaks for silence. Secondly, it doesn't overheat, operates at +29-35℃ even in +35℃ heat. Thirdly, its operating speed is at the highest level, truly unmatched for the price. And fourthly, it inexplicably "pauses" for 3-5 seconds periodically like my 7-year-old WD Green, even though it's only 2 months old.
Speed, no heat
Noisy, hangs for 3-5 seconds a couple of times a day while using the file manager, there are no freezes in games
Micheluse Toshiba HDWE140EZSTA few months
IMHO: for high-performance file storage (but not for RAID)

My video review is here http://tardis33.ru/videoblog/61-obzor-zhestkogo-diska-toshiba-x300-hdwe140-4-tb
The price of the disk is a big plus!!!
Packaging - to each their own.
7200 - fast, the speed will be noticeable on large files.
128M - twice as much as competitors.
IMHO - the best disk for its price for a file archive, but not for RAID.
You can't set it up in a RAID array... it's a pity.
The warranty could have been 5 years...
This drive is not for industrial systems...
use Toshiba HDWE140EZSTA month or more

Ideal for a gaming or work PC

When it comes to the best hard drives, the Toshiba X300 is one of the first to come up in conversation. Costing a little more than the popular WD Blue and Seagate BarraCuda, this Japanese HDD provides maximum performance and the highest speed. It is not without reason that it is recommended for optimal gaming PCs and workstations for design and rendering, where the ability to quickly move large amounts of data is important.

Speed is faster than any HDD

All X300 series drives spin at 7,200 rpm and have an increased buffer capacity of up to 128 MB. This 4 GB model produces an average of 220 MB/s when copying large files. This is one of the best results on the market; for comparison, the popular WD Blue does not exceed the 150 MB/s line. An increase in speed of almost 30 percent is a serious argument when choosing a HDD. And this is not to mention the fact that the average 220 MB/s is only 2 times slower than the average SSD. It is equally important that Toshiba also took care of data security by equipping the HDD with a built-in shock sensor, strengthening the locking of the heads when turned off, and adding built-in self-diagnosis of the disk.

Not without its drawbacks

Considering the fairly high price, we have a few quibbles. The drive is quite noisy. Moreover, it is not the heads that make noise, but the disk itself that vibrates. Therefore, he must be prescribed a soft suspension. Well, heating. During idle time (but without parking the heads), the temperature regime is not so blissful: without any load, the drive on the test bench did not cool down below 40 °C even after several hours of idle operation. In operating mode, it easily warms up to 50 °C, so it is advisable to take care of proper cooling of the case; cramming it into a compact box with passive cooling is not an option.
