Not a bad power supply, a kind of fsp in a beautiful wrapper. Yes, they write comments here like: Ugh, it burned out after two weeks, Yes, it does not carry 500 watts, It stinks, It does not work right out of the box - ALSO this power supply costs a penny, then you should be happy if it turns on at all. if you want a good power supply that will definitely serve you for many years, then take Super Flower, Sisonik, Bi Quiet, Game Max. Painted. There is a grill, which means you can service the fan without opening the power supply. The wires are braided, but this is kind of a minus. Quite quiet. The wires are thick The wires are too thick in the braid, I don’t even understand why the wires need braiding if they can be painted black and run without this thick sausage that can’t be laid in any way and spoils the appearance of the PC. Further, the location of the sata power supply is very inconvenient; they are with molex on the same braid, which is why it is impossible to place the sata braid and the molex braid separately. In general, very inconvenient wires for cable management use Thermaltake TR2 S 500W few months |
A good PSU for my money, I’m already buying 3 PSUs of this type for assemblies for friends and myself. I’ve been using it for 3 years now, everything suits me and my friends. Good price, quiet in operation, reliable. the wires are hard and thick; in some cheap cases the side cover doesn’t close well, but this is more of a nitpick. |
great PSU. I've been using this particular model for many, many years. This is currently my 2nd PSU of this particular model. They all worked flawlessly, never had any defects or problems with it. This PSU works like this: very well and for a long time until the fan starts to either make noise or stops working. There's no need to be afraid, if you want, change the fan, no? Well, sell it or give it away. I'm writing this comment because this is my 2nd PSU, I have money but I don't feel like messing around with it. I'm buying a 3rd PSU and then this one again )))) This 2nd PSU worked for either 4 or 5 years. Draw your own conclusions, and the price is awesome. price, quality, appearance, reliability, no frills! the weak point of this PSU is the fan, after 4-5 years of operation it starts to either buzz or jam. tested on 2 such PSUs |

Efficient and affordable PSU from Thermaltake
TR2 S is an efficient and affordable (by Thermaltake standards) power supply with active power correction and 80+ certification. That is, at a voltage of 230 W and a load range from 20% to 100% of power, the efficiency of the power supply can reach 86% and does not fall below 82%. And all this gives a three-year warranty instead of the usual two.
Load 420 W on line 12V
Despite the entry level, Thermaltake turned out to be a well-assembled power supply with high-quality and competent circuitry, which in many nuances looks more interesting than other state employees. Doubts here are caused only by smoothing capacitors unfamiliar to us from the Chinese company Chengx. TR2 S demonstrates stable performance under continuous load and a good load on the main 12V line - the Capxon 330 uF capacitor is rated at 420 watts. In addition, it offers a sufficient set of connectors and the optimal length of wiring for connecting components. Thanks to this, the model can be safely recommended both for assembling a simple working system (a 450 W option is better here), and a fairly powerful gaming PC with a GeForce RTX 2060 caliber graphics card and a 6-core Ryzen 5 3600 type processor.
Quiet but not silent
It is worth noting that although Thermaltake is not Be Quiet!, it also respects quiet products. Therefore, one of the chips of this power supply was claimed almost silent operation. And this is not entirely true. To cool the filling of the block, a completely ordinary TT-1225 cooler with 7 blades is used, the same as in most other low-cost power supplies. Therefore, if up to a load of 220 W, the cooling system operates almost silently, but when going abroad at 440 W, the noise level is above average. And it increases with increasing load on the system, reaching 34 – 35 dB. In principle, in most cases, this noise does not stand out against the background of the cooling systems of other components, but calling it "exceptionally quiet" is not entirely fair.
