Quite an interesting cross-platform gamepad from the Danish manufacturer of gaming peripherals SteelSeries with high quality workmanship, support for two wireless modes and a mount for smartphones. The mount is located in the very center of the gamepad and extends from the front panel, allowing you to install any modern smartphone with a massive display. The model belongs to the upper price segment and was created for active gamers who are not tied to one gaming platform.
The SteelSeries Stratus DUO uses the Sony DualShock gamepad layout as a button layout: 4 buttons on the right are responsible for the main actions in the game, 4 side triggers are needed for secondary functions, and a four-way D-Pad and a pair of sticks are responsible for moving the game character and controlling the camera. The magnetic sensors of the sticks allow you to achieve a perfect uniform pressure of the stick from the beginning to the edge of the working area.
The ergonomic design of the controller greatly improves the grip and also reduces the strain on the hands without tiring the hands even after several hours of continuous play. The gamepad does not require complex installation - just plug it in and you can start playing. Connection is via a USB cable or a wireless receiver. The built-in battery provides up to 20 hours of continuous play when connected wirelessly. The device is friendly with gaming PCs and laptops based on Windows and Chromebooks, as well as Android smartphones and virtual reality helmets Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR. A separate plus is Steam certification, which makes it easier to manage games without native support for gamepads.

High-quality cross-platform gamepad from a Danish brand
The SteelSeries Stratus DUO is a pretty interesting cross-platform gamepad from Danish gaming peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries with high-quality workmanship, combo connectivity (USB, Bluetooth and radio), and an optional mobile device mount sold separately. According to SteelSeries representatives, the Stratus DUO has replaced the old Stratus XL, which has long been considered one of the best smartphone controllers, but, alas, is obsolete.
Massive smartphone mount
The gamepad turned out to be medium in size, in shape it is quite reminiscent of Microsoft controllers, but its sticks are arranged symmetrically, which is typical for Sony gamepads. In addition to traditional sticks, cursors, and the main buttons, there are several additional buttons in the central part for controlling mobile devices. Due to its size, it is optimally suited for people with medium palms. Matte plastic with softtouch inserts in the palms lies well and tenaciously, even if you suddenly decide to go through Doom Eternal on maximum difficulty. Thus Stratus DUO is a convenient and interesting alternative to gamepads from Sony and Microsoft. The device also claims support for Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and other virtual reality helmets.
Great gamepad without tactile feedback
The main and only complaint about the Stratus DUO is the lack of tactile feedback. For a device costing almost $100, a pair of built-in vibration motors would definitely come in handy. Otherwise, this is in all respects an excellent, comfortable and stylish manipulator with high-quality buttons, responsive sticks, an ergonomic body, additional keys and good battery life. In particular, the manufacturer guarantees up to 20 hours of battery life. This is not as much as the original Stratus XL, but there were AA batteries, and here is a full-fledged battery.
