High-capacity enterprise-class server internal hard drive (18 TB) from the Seagate Exos X18 family of 3.5" HDD drives, which includes 10 models with capacities from 10 to 18 TB with a standard SATA or server SAS interface. This line includes high-quality drives for operation in 24/7 mode, the design and firmware of which are optimized for solving problems of long-term storage and processing of information in large disk arrays with a large number of HDDs.
Supports hot-plug (Hot-Plug). Designed for operation in RAID arrays of enterprise-level or large servers. data processing centers use SAS as the connection interface, so the Seagate Exos X18 ST18000NM004J hard drive cannot be installed in ordinary personal computers (an expensive SAS controller with a PCIe interface and a special cable are required). protection against leaks. Great HDD. It works on a single-board computer and runs its own Nextcloud cloud. It's fast and almost doesn't heat up - under heavy load for 2 hours, it showed 41°C, and without load around 37°C. Which is just ideal! But this is a so-called toaster-type NAS, the disks stand vertically and cool down very well without fans. Those who complain about the noise - well, you saw before buying that this is a server disk and not a desktop one, right? Although in my case, I wouldn't say it works very loudly. I bought myself several Exos ST18000NM000J for NAS. Surprisingly very quiet hard drives. Compared to my former Toshiba MG06A - it's just night and day. I think my neighbors were also happy to replace the old drives.. One 120mm cooler is enough for cooling, with it the hard drives heat up to no more than 30-35 degrees. The hard drive starts up very smoothly, no clicks or vibrations, even when parked. And only during high load, if you get close to the server, you can hear the heads moving. When copying/reading, it produces stable 270-290 MBs, sometimes it accelerates to 370 MBs. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good CMR drive. When the disc is turned on, the noise is simply infernal, it feels like it's tearing apart from the inside. At low writing speeds, it makes noise, creaks, and sputters. But the most interesting part is that it passes the functionality test.
