The youngest member of the Moto G7 family of smartphones, simplified on key fronts for the sake of accessibility to a wide range of users. The front panel of the device case is occupied by a 5.7-inch diagonal screen with HD + resolution. In its upper part, you can see a wide “eyebrow” for the earpiece and an 8 MP selfie camera with flash. The only model from the G7 quartet did not get a dual rear camera and an NFC chip.

The main photomodule in the arsenal of the device is armed with a 13 MP matrix with moderate f/2.0 aperture optics. "At the helm" of the Motorola Moto G7 Play is a chip from the category of tough nuts of the middle class Snapdragon 632. Most games and mobile applications are "too tough" for him without significant "stress". The memory in the assets of the model is 2/32 GB. Expanding the capacity of the internal storage is possible due to microSD format drives (up to 512 GB inclusive). The smartphone is powered by a 3000 mAh rechargeable battery.

New Moto

In the spring of 2019, Motorola officially introduced its new line of smartphones moto G7. The centerpiece of the new family of four models is the Motorola Moto G7 Play, a well-balanced smartphone for everyone.

"Not like everyone else" design

Motorola, as always, has its own approach to design. Sloping edges, a plastic cover with a fine pattern that is pleasant to the touch, a logo harmoniously integrated into the fingerprint scanner — all this distinguishes the G7 Play from most of its counterparts on the market. There are now without exception large displays with a teardrop-shaped cutout and a gradient coloring of the back cover. Thanks to the rounded edges and a height of 148 mm, the smartphone fits comfortably in the hand and overall looks nice. As for the assembly, there are no complaints about the model, there are no backlashes, cracks and squeaks.

Power within reason

In the “iron” part, the smartphone got an eight-core Snapdragon 632 processor, working in conjunction with 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 506 graphics. Due to such low-cost equipment, it leaves a mixed impression in terms of speed and smoothness. On the one hand, the power is quite enough for surfing the net, browsing on social networks and running everyday applications, on the other hand, it is easy to cross the line when the RAM is no longer enough. It is enough to open a couple of high consumption applications like Facebook and Instagram, and then open 7 – 8 tabs in the browser.

Far from the best display

The low resolution of the display is the main drawback of this model, which is especially noticeable when reading small fonts and in the interface. On the other hand, it gives longer run time, and undemanding users will not pay attention to it. Well, the quality of the display itself is not at the highest level, the colours fade in the bright sun, and the stock of brightness is enough back to back.

Pumped functionality

The functionality of the smartphone also stands out. Of the pluses, we note a fast fingerprint scanner and face unlock, fast charging with USB-C, a splash-proof body and a proprietary gesture control system and the Always On function. The latter allows you to display information such as time and date on the screen that is off without draining the battery. Of the minuses — a so-so single camera and a conversational speaker, which is also an external speaker.

Buy or not?

The general conclusion is this: you need to evaluate the G7 Play from the position of the price. If you can find it for under $150, then it will be a good smartphone of its kind. But at a price of $180 and above, it is difficult to compete with popular models from Xiaomi and Huawei, which have NFC, more powerful hardware, dual cameras and much better screens.
