Compact and powerful professional grade saw
The Makita DJR188Z saw is one of the most compact models among powerful and performant reciprocating saws. Thanks to the transverse arrangement of the engine, the manufacturer managed to place the components and mechanisms of the saw in such a way that an almost “square” tool with dimensions of 316x81x203 mm was obtained. Such an arrangement is necessary to solve a specific problem — the dismantling of building structures and communications. The small length of the hacksaw makes it possible to work effectively in a limited space, getting to the most inaccessible places. And the shape and location of the handles allow you to hold the saw in several different ways, choosing the most comfortable position.
Dismantling Master
As a demolition tool, a saw can do a lot. It cuts wooden boards and bars up to 255 mm thick, easily cuts rebar and steel pipes (profile and round) up to 130 mm in diameter. Therefore, a hacksaw can even be used to dismantle heating risers and light metal structures. It has a quick-release mount for keyless tool change, which allows you to use original Makita accessories and accessories from other brands. Included with the saw are several interchangeable blades for sawing various materials.
In order not to spoil the tool during intensive work, the saw is equipped with an electronic brake and engine protection (a flashing light indicates overheating, so it is almost impossible not to notice a critical increase in temperature and burn the engine). To illuminate the work area, the hacksaw has an LED backlight.
More work on a single charge
The Makita DJR188Z saw is equipped with a brushless motor (such electric motors are reliable, resistant to dust and moisture and reduce energy consumption). Therefore, even on batteries of small capacity, a decent battery life is provided. This model is sold as a “carcass” (that is, without a battery and charger), but various 18-volt Makita batteries with capacities from 1.5 to 6 Ah are suitable for it. Which one to buy is up to you: a small battery will last for 10-15 minutes of work, and a couple of large ones will allow you to work almost non-stop.
