An even more advanced choice

The Star X2 is the second generation of Fire-Maple cooking systems and an upgraded version of the early FMS-X1. Here, the power has increased (2200 W against the background of 1500 W), due to which it takes from 185 seconds to boil a liter of water against 210 seconds for its predecessor.

Fire-Maple Star X2 has become more stable and versatile, thanks to the expanded package. There is, respectively, a folding stand for a gas cylinder with wide plastic legs and a special taganok — an adapter that allows you to install almost any utensils on the burner.

Extended equipment

The model is equipped with a container for cooking. It also serves for transport/storage. Not only all components are placed inside, but also a standard 230 gram threaded cylinder. Also, a large 450 gram gas cartridge can be placed in the pot (but without the burner itself and accessories). And to protect the container from scratches, it is proposed to use a complete mesh bag.

The burner is compact and practical, as it is complemented by a piezo element, an extended flame regulator and a built-in wind shield.

Functional cooking container

The Fire-Maple Star X2 pot holds a liter, which is usually more than enough for one or two tourists (the total volume is slightly larger — with a margin for boiling water when boiling). The container is made of aluminium, on top of which a neoprene coating is applied to protect against burns and reduce heat loss. The lower part integrates a windscreen and a heat exchange system designed to increase energy efficiency and optimize fuel consumption (a 230-gram canister should be enough for 138 minutes of operation).

The container also received a practical folding handle with a cable lock for fixing the lid. The latter, by the way, is transparent here — especially for visual control of the heating of the liquid.

The disadvantages of the Fire-Maple Star X2 include the solid weight of the entire kit (600 grams), which can be critical for hiking or cycling trips. Otherwise, it is an interesting and more affordable alternative to similar Jetboil production systems.
