DeWALT DW088K

Tools of the American brand DeWALT have long been in demand by users around the world, and laser levels are no exception. The $175 DW088K has features that will suit both DIYers and pros on large construction sites.

Tiny miracle

The device attracts attention with a branded bright coloring with a combination of black and yellow colours. The dimensions are not the most compact 61x112x113 mm, as well as the weight of 750 g. But it is well protected by rubberized inserts from mechanical damage, as well as dust and moisture (degree of protection IP 54). The level operates in the temperature range from -10 to +45 °C, which practically does not limit its seasonal use.

Features

The DW088K "draws" a horizontal and vertical line and can be aligned within a 4° deflection. Markup is done in a few seconds and without much effort. A red beam with a wavelength of 637 nm is clearly visible at a distance of up to 10 m. To successfully use the level at long distances (up to 50 m) or on a well-lit area, you must use a special receiver, this mode is provided.

For those who forget to turn off the instruments after work, there is an auto-off function that turns off the level after five minutes of inactivity.

Equipment

The device has a 1/4" thread for installation on a special or photo tripod, but the tripod itself is not included in the scope of delivery. But there is a magnetic holder, which greatly facilitates operation in hard-to-reach places and at heights.

The level works from 3 AA batteries and consumes very little energy. You will have to replace the batteries only after 35 – 40 hours of operation. But the pendulum of the emitter is not blocked when turned off. So, you need to be extremely careful when transporting, even despite the presence of a case.

Of course, DW088K will be useful both at home and on the scale of a large construction site. In the second case, the price does not scare you, but for domestic purposes, it would probably be wiser to find a cheaper device.
