After the start of the coronavirus pandemic, our department was transferred to remote work. My computer was not exactly very old, but it was slow, and I had to ask my relatives for a laptop to work. It was not always possible to coordinate, so I had to wait for someone to finish their work. In short, I decided to turn to my son, who knows the ins and outs of computer technology. He disassembled the computer and it turned out that there was little thermal paste on the processor from the factory, and the little that was there had already dried up. My assistant had replaced thermal paste on his computer more than once, so he helped replace it on my PC as well. In addition, he also organized a lecture on how everything works, etc. Before disassembling the computer, my son installed some application that reports all the device's indicators. He made records and after that suggested replacing the thermal paste on the processor, as this should solve the problem. He selected this thermal paste, applied it to the processor, put everything back together, and then ran the monitoring program again. It turned out that due to the overheating of the processor, the computer started to work slowly, which is why programs opened so slowly. After replacing the thermal paste, the processor temperature dropped by 11 degrees. I don't know how much that is, but now I can easily launch office applications, image editors, my email inbox, and I can join webinars and meetings without any problems. After replacing the old thermal paste, which was there from the very beginning after purchasing the computer, it stopped lagging and works much better. The CPU temperature dropped by 11 degrees, which may not be much, but it helped. After applying the thermal paste to the CPU, there was still a lot left in the syringe, probably enough for a long time.
