In addition to the new iPad Pro and Air, at the Let Loose presentation Apple also presented a new generation of the Apple Pencil stylus, which also received a Pro prefix. And it should be noted that, compared to its predecessors, a lot has changed in it. Therefore, Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air 2024 models and will not be able to fully work with older tablet models.

Pressure sensor and haptic feedback

The shape is the same white plastic “pencil” for taking notes and drawing. But its functionality has expanded. So, Pencil Pro has a compression sensor with haptic feedback, thanks to which the user can change drawing tools on the fly, for example, switching from a brush to a pencil. Plus, the gyroscope lets you rotate Apple Pencil Pro for precise control of the pen and brush, or change settings on the fly.

Advanced settings and Find My feature

To further expand the functionality of the stylus, Apple has provided the ability to create your own patterns of interaction with the stylus. One of the first applications with similar gesture customization capabilities was the Procreate graphics editor. Well, if an artist or designer accidentally loses the stylus, it has a Find My function that will help you find the lost accessory. Against this background, the announced price of $129 is somewhat confusing, but when did Apple ever have cheap peripherals?

Pencil Pro has an additional sensor in the body that reads the compression of the stylus and opens the tool palette. With the help of the updated gyroscope, the orientation of the pen and brush tools will change depending on the position of the device in the hand. Also, the stylus is equipped with the Find My function, thanks to which you can easily find your Pencil Pro.
