The ABUS brand U-lock bicycle lock is a mid-budget security accessory designed to provide excellent protection against medium theft risks. This is how the manufacturer rates the model, having assigned it a score of 9 out of 15 in their proprietary security rating. It is also recommended for use with very expensive bicycles. The ABUS Granit 460/300 lock has not only undergone various internal tests (including freeze spray testing) but also independent tests.

For instance, the British organization Sold Secure awarded it a Silver certificate, which actually signifies a balance between reliability and price attractiveness. Here, a 12-millimeter shackle made of hardened steel is responsible for resistance to impacts and other mechanical influences from intruders.
