Topaz earrings
Topaz
— gemstone of the third order; in the old days it was highly valued, up to comparisons with diamonds, but today it is a relatively inexpensive (although far from the cheapest) mineral. The most valuable from a jewelry point of view are golden-pink, yellow and blue topazes. The name "London topaz" is used for the blue topaz with the most intense colour; This is one of the most popular varieties of this stone. There are also decorations with the so-called "mystic topaz" — stones of iridescent colour (from green to purple), which can be compared with diamonds in their ability to reflect light. Such stones are obtained artificially, and the appearance is provided, among other things, by a special spraying, which requires careful handling.Note that smoky quartz, or rauchtopaz (see the relevant paragraph) can also be called topaz. However, these stones differ markedly in properties and cost, do not confuse them. Therefore, such terminology is acceptable in common speech, but not in the official data of jewelry stores.
