— boards designed for use in racing. This category includes both the sports style models themselves and some touring class boards (for traveling), which have fairly high speed characteristics. Both those and others have a large length and small width, due to which stability on the course is ensured and resistance is reduced; while maintaining balance on such a board requires a certain skill. The choice between these varieties depends on the format of the competition: for relatively short distances, purely sports models are used, for marathon swims — touring ones.
