In this case, the channels, usually, are divided according to the direction of protection — for example, one provides protection against voltage failures, the other — from violations of the network frequency. Such devices are designed for cases where network segments differ markedly in terms of load characteristics — for example, one segment feeds relatively unpretentious equipment, the second — sensitive electronics.
