Springs for RC models for
— replacement springs for shock absorbers (see the relevant paragraph), sold separately.
Shock absorbers for modern RC models are usually composite structures in which the working elements are a cylinder (most often hydraulic — filled with special oil) and a spring. The cylinder is primarily responsible for resisting compression; the spring also performs this function, but its main task is to return the shock absorber to its original position after compression. And the features of the suspension work depend both on the characteristics of the spring itself and on the ratio between its rigidity and the efficiency of the cylinder. So, too stiff springs with too soft cylinders lead to excessive buildup of the machine and instability during movement, and in the opposite case (too soft spring), the wheels begin to track the terrain with a delay, which worsens grip.
In light of all this, when tuning a model, it may be necessary to replace not the entire shock absorbers, but only the springs installed in them. Such parts, sold separately, can have different stiffnesses and even come in sets of several springs of different stiffness, which makes it possible to reconfigure the suspension with minimal effort.
