It is much more difficult to manage such a vessel than a motor one, and its mobility directly depends on the wind; however, sailing is considered "classic", and some ship modellers prefer to deal with such models. In addition, a radio-controlled yacht can be useful for learning the basic principles of sailing — it's easier, cheaper and safer than boarding a full-size sailing vessel with no experience. Radio-controlled sailboats can be made in both classic and multihull (catamaran or trimaran) layout.
