Flat files

Flat

— the traditional, most popular type of files. It is designed mainly for processing flat surfaces, it can also be used for convex outer surfaces. Flat files, usually, have a notch on both sides, while different sides may differ in purpose: one can be made slightly convex (for a rough fit), the second is even (for finishing and removing the plane).
