Gel pens

Gel

— the design of the writing nib in gel pens is in many respects similar to ballpoint pens: the ink channel closely adjoins the ball with a diameter of fractions of a millimetre, which rolls along the paper, constantly being wetted with ink and leaving a mark. The main difference is that the ink itself has the consistency of not a paste, but a gel. This greatly reduces writing resistance, makes it easier to use, and allows you to write not only on paper, but also on a wide variety of other surfaces (even on glass). On the other hand, gel pens run out of ink quickly, and the risk of “blurring” is higher than that of ballpoint pens. Note that rollerball pens are also conditionally referred to this type — they have an improved writing nib and use water-based ink, similar to fountain pens. Their main features practically coincide with gel ones.
