— wi-Fi technology is popular primarily as a way to wirelessly connect to computer networks; accordingly, IP intercoms are usually equipped with Wi-Fi modules (see "Type"). This function slightly increases the cost of the device, but this is more than offset by the convenience of connection — no need to pull wires to a router or other control device. In addition, a direct connection to a smartphone, tablet or other gadget can be made via Wi-Fi — although this function is far from mandatory, and its availability should be specified separately.
