Muddle

— a tool used to squeeze juice from fruits and berries in the preparation of cocktails. It has the appearance of an oblong pestle, often with a narrowing in the middle of the handle or closer to the working part. The working part itself can be made serrated for added convenience, but smooth muddlers are also found. The standard size of such a tool is 7.5" (about 19 cm) in length and a little more than 1" (2.8 cm) in width at the working side, however deviations from this standard are possible. Mudlers can also differ in the materials used: there are both traditional wood and more modern and technological options, such as ebonite or a plastic pusher on a metal handle.
