Bar shakers
— initially, a shaker is a traditional bartender's tool, a vessel for mixing various cocktails by shaking the contents. There are two main varieties of such shakers — classic (European) and American (Boston). The first variety is in the form of a large glass, usually made of stainless steel (although other materials are also found); such a glass is complemented by a lid and a sieve to filter out ice and small insoluble particles. In the American shaker, in turn, the role of the lid is played by a smaller glass (the so-called mixing glass), installed with the bottom up, and strainers are used for filtration (see the relevant paragraph).
Also included in this category are "sports" shaker bottles designed for appropriate drinks (eg protein shakes). Such bottles are usually made of plastic and equipped with a valve that allows you to drink without removing the cap.
