Silicone lids for dishes
Silicone
— lids made of food grade silicone. In terms of physical properties, this material resembles rubber, it is soft and quite elastic. At the same time, silicone is much safer and more reliable: it is odorless and tasteless, does not emit harmful substances even when heated (up to 200 °C and even higher), moreover, it normally tolerates microwave use and low temperatures (up to freezers). Such lids can be made in various colours, and some of them, due to their softness and elasticity, can be held on the dishes due to the “vacuum effect” — when the lid is pressed in during installation, and when released, it tends to straighten out, creating reduced pressure inside the dish and holding onto place due to the pressure of the outside air. At the same time, silicone is opaque and less versatile than glass or metal — in particular, such lids are not suitable for traditional cooking on the stove for a number of reasons, they are mainly intended for microwaves and the storage of prepared foods. Because of this, this option has not received much distribution. No offers found
