Note that many models with this feature are initially equipped with subwoofers; but the presence of a separate output may come in handy if you need to connect another “sub” instead of the complete one (for example, when the last one fails, or if it doesn’t suit you with something). However note that this connector is usually designed for an active subwoofer (with its own amplifier).
