— in this case, it means that the projector supports the so-called virtual surround sound. This feature means that due to special signal processing, real sound channels (see "Sound format") are supplemented with virtual ones, and the customer hears more channels than originally provided by the projector. For example, a 2.0 system can be supplemented in this way with two rear channels, giving the impression that the sound comes not only from the front, but also from the back. However, in terms of sound reliability, virtual channels do not reach the real ones; on the other hand, this technology is much cheaper than a full-fledged multi-channel sound.Note that the virtual surround sound function is specified for 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1 format systems. In more advanced multi-channel systems, there are a priori additional channels for reproducing surround sound.
