These sockets are officially of CEE 7/16 standard , they are designed for specific flat plugs and are elongated, that makes them incompatible with round plugs for "regular" CEE 7/4 Schuko sockets (although "compact" plugs will fit full size sockets). Therefore, it is worth buying a surge protector with such sockets only if you intend to constantly use it for electrical appliances connected via a “compact” plug.
