Cement mixers with reduction gear
— gear drives are based on the operation of a special mechanism (actually, a gearbox), usually located directly on the motor shaft and playing the role of an "adapter" between the motor and the drum. This mechanism is usually housed in a closed case, which provides protection from sand and other debris and increases reliability compared to the simpler girth drive. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the complexity of the design of gearboxes, the high cost and almost complete unsuitability for repair outside specialized workshops.
