— in cement mixers of this type, the drum is “girdled” with a metal or plastic strip with teeth (crown), and rotation is carried out by engaging these teeth with a gear on the motor shaft. Crown drives are extremely simple, inexpensive and quite reliable, although they are prone to gradual wear due to the inevitable ingress of sand and small stones into the mechanism. They are widely used in modern cement mixers.
