Motion controllers
Motion controller
— manipulators designed to control the gameplay through the movements of the user. They usually have buttons and other traditional controls, but it's primarily the movements tracked by the manipulator that play an important role.A modern motion controller is usually a remote held in the hand; this is quite enough to simulate a wide variety of game actions: hits and blocks in hand-to-hand combat, the movements of a tennis racquet, the swing of a golf club, the throw of a bowling ball, etc. Such control makes the gameplay not only interesting and varied, but also more beneficial to health — instead of sitting still, the players are actively moving. The action of the motion controller is usually based on the use of mechanical sensors — an accelerometer and a gyroscope; some models may include additional features to improve accuracy, such as the glowing ball in the Sony Move Motion Controller for PlayStation.
It is also worth noting that Sony's Move Navigation Controller is usually referred to as motion controllers: it does not track hand movements, but it was originally intended for use with the Move Motion Controller and does not imply independent use.
