Printers with CISS

— built-in continuous ink supply system — a set of separate containers (each with ink of a different colour), from which the dye is supplied to the print heads as needed. Such systems are very convenient for those who often and in large quantities have to print colour images. First, CISS ink is generally cheaper than replacing or refilling a classic cartridge. Secondly, the containers are quite large in size, and they last for a long time. Thirdly, when the supply of one or another ink is exhausted, it is enough to refill only the corresponding container (whereas some colour cartridges in such situations have to be changed entirely, losing dye residues in other containers). On the other hand, built-in CISS are expensive, so they are mainly used in expensive professional models; for simpler printers, continuous feed systems are available, purchased and installed separately.
