Metal

— the most durable and, therefore, reliable of the materials used in modern sleds. At the same time, the metal is quite heavy and not very comfortable in the cold — touching with bare hands can even cause frostbite. Therefore, very few all-metal sleds are produced, and even in them the seat is usually made of fabric. Much more common are models where metal is combined with plastic or wood (see the relevant paragraphs).
