Tap and die sets

Set

— sets that include several tools at once.

Most often, in this case, a set is meant in the traditional sense of the word: a kit that includes several tools of different sizes, and often also of different types. The classic configuration of a set includes dies and/or taps of various diameters, plus the appropriate holder(s). If you plan to frequently deal with threading of different sizes, such a purchase may be the optimal option: buying all the necessary dies, taps, and accessories in one set is at least more convenient, and often cheaper, than purchasing these items separately.

Note that hand and machine-hand taps are also often supplied in sets of several pieces (see "Type of tap"). However, these options are generally not considered sets: their name simply states "tap" and additionally specifies the number of such tools in the set.
