Rim

— the lock, installed overhead — on top of the door, with fixation with self-tapping screws or other similar devices. Usually placed on the inside, and to bring the keyhole out, the door is cut through. In terms of application, such locks are similar to mortise locks; they are also used for residential premises; at the same time, on the one hand, the overhead lock is easier to install, on the other hand, it is somewhat less reliable (it is easier to tear it off the fasteners than the mortise lock, for example, when knocking out doors). In addition, these locks are mainly designed for wooden doors, they are not suitable for metal doors.
