— a merbau finish is usually a red-brown colour reminiscent of mahogany (in English, the word mahogany is even used to refer to merbau as well). Wood patterns on such a surface are relatively weakly expressed; they can be either characteristic stains or a set of thin short strokes densely applied to the surface.
