Earplugs are plugs that are inserted directly into the canal of each ear and reduce the volume of sound heard by a person. Such devices are indispensable when working with engines and other noisy mechanisms, during shooting, blasting, etc. At the same time, compared to other devices of a similar purpose — headphones — earplugs are much more compact; besides, they are compatible with almost any other protective equipment (whereas the “ears” can be uncomfortable when worn, for example, with a full face mask). Moreover, the headphones can be supplemented with earplugs for maximum sound isolation.

Note that classic earplugs are designed to protect mainly against low-frequency noise. However, this category may also include antiphons, devices of a similar use, tuned to filter high frequencies. There are earplugs with specific design features — for example, a through channel of a special shape, through which you can hear the human voice quite clearly while maintaining noise-protective properties.
