— the main advantage of metal over plastic is its high strength and reliability. In addition, metal is not afraid of static electricity, so fuel will be poured into such a canister at any gas station (whereas plastic can be difficult, see the relevant paragraph for more details). On the other hand, such containers are noticeably heavier and more expensive, and the difference in strength is most often not particularly critical. Therefore, canisters of this type are relatively rare recently.
